We are looking for a motivated therapist to join our dynamic and friendly Children’s Occupational Therapy service. This role will be rotational across Bristol, North, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Children’s services, including nurseries, schools and health settings. The team is part of a NHS children’s therapy service which consists of a wide range of health professionals and has strong links to both mainstream and special schools. You will work alongside other experienced professionals to understand the needs of the children and young people who have difficulties with functional and physical skills. The children and young people referred may have conditions such as developmental coordination disorder or cerebral palsy. The aim is to help these children and young people develop independence, functional skills, and achieve their physical potential. Supervision and training are provided regularly from within the teams.
The main duties of the role are to provide assessment and therapeutic interventions for infants, children and young people referred into the service. This may include assessing children for potential difficulties with handwriting, self-care or play skills. Following assessment you will set out interventions or recommendations and work with therapy technicians who will complete blocks of interventions. There may be a requirement to run therapeutic group work. You will record your work in the child’s medical notes and complete reports and contributions to Education and Health Care plans. Regular supervision and training is expected, and you will work as part of a team while also being confident to work autonomously.

Experience
- Effective organisation and time management skills
- Experience of working with children and/or young people
- Experience of multi-disciplinary working
- Experience of working with or caring for children with additional needs
- Experience of placement in a children’s Occupational Therapy team
- Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy recognised by the Health & Care Professions Council
