Community Children's Specialist Services – Grade Band 3 – Contract Permanent (Nights and some day shifts). Hours: Full time, Part time, Flexible working. 36 hours per week (Nights and some days, part‑time considered and overtime available).

Children's Community Support Worker Job overview: Deliver clinical care to children with complex, life‑limiting health needs, primarily in their own homes or at school. Work closely with Community Children’s Nurses to provide ongoing, person‑centred care and support families to live independently.

Main duties of the job:

  • Provide occupational, medical and emotional support to children and their families during daytime and overnight periods.
  • Collaborate with registered nurses to implement care plans, using specialised equipment and technology as required.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and contribute to safe, holistic care delivery within the scope of practice.
  • Support families by allowing them to rest and manage their own support networks.

Person specification:

  • Qualifications: Numeracy/Literacy level 1 or equivalent.
  • Full Driving Licence with access to a vehicle.
  • NVQ/QCF (or equivalent) in Health and/or Social care.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a broad range of people.
  • Aware of own limitations and respect for professional boundaries.
  • Ability to accept delegation and work independently once fully trained.
  • Prior experience working with children with complex health needs.
  • Evidence of providing care in a health or community setting.
  • Voluntary or unpaid work experience may be used to demonstrate relevant knowledge and experience.
