Would you like to work in an innovative award-winning team, where there is a strong focus on delivering high quality care? Skylark is a 30 bedded unit in Yate for patient rehabilitation. Our aim is to help people to regain their independence and to provide a safe, patient centred, effective and evidence-based service in a community inpatient setting.

We are looking for a full time (37.5hrs) Band 5 Occupational Therapist (OT) to bring a unique blend of experiences, backgrounds and knowledge to our well-established team. Your focus will be to use your skills and creativity to contribute to the development and implementation of treatment programs. You will work autonomously to deliver high quality, evidence-based interventions that improve service users’ functional abilities and independence. We use a Multidisciplinary team approach to facilitate safe and timely discharges with a home is best approach.

You will have access to regular supervision with a senior Occupational Therapist and will work alongside a range of colleagues, including GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Physiotherapists, Support Workers and Social Workers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Performing occupational therapy assessments to aid diagnosis and treatment of patients who may have diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions; including orthopaedic, vascular, neurological, cognitive problems.
  • Assisting in the discharge planning process as part of the wider MDT.
  • Holding responsibility for your own caseload and being responsible for a defined area of the service or a particular patient type, working with supervision where required.
  • Undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Providing support/supervision for the occupational therapy students, assistant practitioners, rehab support workers and activities co-ordinator.
  • Assisting Senior therapists in service development, including the development of groups.
