Covering: Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Durham, Newcastle & Tyne and Wear, Northumberland and the wider North East. We’re recruiting an Area Sales Manager to take ownership of a high‑potential territory across the North East and Midlands. This vacancy has arisen following the promotion and relocation of the previous role holder to the USA, reflecting the genuine career development opportunities available within our business.
The Role
Reporting to the Business Development Manager, you’ll be one of a national team of 7 Area Sales Managers, responsible for driving sales performance across 350–500 merchant branches. You’ll deliver growth through technical product demonstrations, strong branch relationships, and impactful in-store activity.
Key Responsibilities
- Exceed sales and margin targets across your designated territory
- Drive demand through product demonstrations of sealants and adhesives to end users within merchant branches
- Complete a minimum of 4 product demonstrations per day
- Build and maintain strong, long‑term relationships with branch teams and decision‑makers
- Train branch staff on product features, benefits, and applications
- Ensure products are well‑presented and correctly merchandised in‑store
- Implement staff incentive schemes and promotions to drive sales uplift
- Secure listings and maximise shelf space within branches
- Update the CRM system daily and manage associated administration
- Actively participate in personal skills development and ongoing training
About You
- Proven experience in field sales, ideally within the merchant, construction, building materials, or technical products sector
- Commercially driven with a track record of achieving or exceeding KPIs
- Strong relationship‑builder with excellent influencing and communication skills
- Highly self‑motivated, organised, and comfortable working autonomously
- Customer‑focused with a good understanding of how merchants and end users operate
- IT‑literate with strong working knowledge of MS Office and CRM systems
Qualifications: A degree is not essential. GCSE Maths and English at grade B/C (or equivalent) is required. The ability to understand technical standards and product applications is key.
