Join Our Team
You will be an Underwriting Assistant – Marine. You will report to the Head of Marine in London.
The role will support the underwriting team in the Marine market, with a focus on Cargo, Hull & Machinery. This role involves assisting in the evaluation, selection, and pricing of risks, as well as maintaining and developing broker relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist underwriters in the preparation and processing of underwriting documentation, including policy wordings, endorsements, and certificates.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of underwriting activities and ensure compliance with Lloyd's regulations and internal policies.
- Conduct preliminary analysis of risks and provide support in the assessment and evaluation of marine insurance proposals.
- Liaise with brokers, clients, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and ensure timely communication.
- Support the underwriting team in the preparation of reports, presentations, and other documentation for internal and external meetings.
- Assist in the coordination and administration of underwriting projects and initiatives.
- Provide general administrative support to the underwriting team, including scheduling meetings, managing correspondence, and maintaining filing systems.

Your skills and abilities should include:
- Previous experience in an underwriting support role or administrative position within the Marine Insurance industry is preferred.
- Basic understanding of marine insurance and underwriting principles.
- Knowledge of Lloyd's market and regulatory requirements is an advantage.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and data management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software applications.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
