Are you self-sufficient, agile and able to work in a fast-paced, changeable environment? As Payroll Manager you will be able to confidently lead an end-to-end, efficient and accurate payroll service for 600 employees (plus seasonal workforce), across multiple locations and will manage a payroll assistant. You will come with advanced Excel skills and experience in payroll software such as Sage 50 or similar. Experience of payroll process/systems improvement would be beneficial.

Hours of work - Mon Fri 35 hours 8-4 pm

Some key accountabilities of the Payroll Manager:

  • The Payroll Manager will have the opportunity to review resource requirements and structure the team/recruit additional support as they see fit.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of two bi-weekly payrolls, including salaries, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and benefits in accordance with contractual terms.
  • Ensure compliance with UK tax legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contributions.
  • Currently looking into the possibility of implementing an alternative time and attendance system; the Payroll Manager would play an integral role in the management and delivery of this project.
  • Submit timely RTI (Real Time Information) reports to HMRC, ensuring all tax, National Insurance, and other deductions are accurately reported.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and update payroll data as required (e.g., tax codes, bank details).
  • Ensure the accurate calculation and processing of statutory payments such as sick pay, maternity/paternity pay, and holiday pay in line with UK regulations.
  • Produce payroll reports for management and finance, ensuring the accuracy of financial data.
  • Handle payroll-related queries from employees, resolving any discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensuring the time and attendance system is updated ahead of the payroll deadline and liaising with managers to chase up outstanding information.
  • Stay up to date with changes in UK payroll legislation, tax laws, and HMRC regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
