Our client is a market leader in their industry of fabrication within Kent and due to a retirement, they have a requirement for a Foreman over their Sheet Metal Department.
Reporting directly to the Production Manager, the Foreman will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations within the sheet metal department, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and supporting a team of sheet metal operatives.
- Planning and allocating daily workloads.
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
- Overseeing fabrication, forming, cutting, folding and assembly processes.
- Ensuring production targets and deadlines are achieved.
- Carrying out quality checks and maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Supporting the team with technical issues and problem-solving.
- Monitoring materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ensuring all health & safety procedures are followed.
- Working closely with Production and Engineering teams to improve efficiency.
What They're Looking For:
- Previous experience in sheet metal fabrication is essential.
- Previous supervisory or foreman experience is highly desirable (3-5 years minimum).
- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Good knowledge of sheet metal processes and fabrication techniques.
- Confident leadership and communication skills.
- Lean Manufacturing, 3S/5S, IOSH Managing Safely, First Aid, Forklift Licence, ERP/MRP experience desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to motivate and support a team in a busy manufacturing environment.
In return, you can expect to receive a competitive salary, an excellent package including subsidised gym membership and 2 paid healthcare appointments per year and working hours of 06:00 - 14:15 Monday to Friday.
