I am currently working with a sub-contract engineering business in Redditch, who are now recruiting for a Technical Sales Engineer to join their existing team. Reporting to the Sales Manager, the Technical Sales Engineer will come from a technical background in either engineering or manufacturing who can operate in a commercial role to estimate new enquiries and assist the team.

The main requirements of the Technical Sales Engineer will be to:

  • Interpret customers’ requirements from specifications and drawings.
  • Using software to create quotations and price proposals.
  • Liaise with suppliers for material and sub-contract costs.
  • Deal with client's technical questions with support from the company's manufacturing engineers.
  • Promote the business and follow up on enquiries to maximise new business opportunities.
  • Following up existing enquiries to encourage feedback from our customers.
  • Liaising with the engineering, production, and quality staff to ensure the customer’s specific requirements are communicated to staff in all departments.

The ideal candidate for the Technical Sales Engineer will have:

  • Good understanding of manufacturing principles.
  • Proven experience in a customer service role within a business-to-business environment.
  • Ability to organise and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to communicate clearly.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.
  • Previous experience in estimating, engineering sales, or internal sales preferred.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and understand manufacturing processes is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and commercial awareness skills.
  • Experience within fabrication, machining, sheet metal, or manufacturing environments is desirable.
  • Proactive, team-focused, and customer-driven attitude.

In return, the Technical Sales Engineer can expect to receive a competitive salary, depending on their level of experience and knowledge, free onsite parking, 33 days holiday entitlement (20 flexible days +8 bank holidays + 5 to be kept for Christmas shutdown). Ongoing training and personal development are also available.
