Reporting to: Head of Reinsurance Technical Accounting

Join Our Team

Reporting to the Insurance Accounting Manager, the Technical Accounts Analyst is responsible for the technical accounting functions of Sirius Syndicate 1945 using practices, which are in accordance with established processes and procedures as appropriate.

Through timely and accurate application of the accounting processes, the Technical Accounts Analyst will ensure the completeness and accuracy of the technical accounts of the Sirius International Managing Agency (SIMA) and the Sirius Syndicate 1945.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process payments and allocate settlements onto the underwriting system to maintain accurate debtor information
  • Monitor the underwriters estimates against amounts booked/received
  • Assist the underwriting and claims teams with the resolution of queries as required; monitoring of underwriters estimates to ensure accurate reporting of business performance
  • Reconciliation of Lloyds/UK Branch Outwards reinsurance settlements.
  • Investigate issues arising in the technical accounting process and recommend solutions
  • Assist in the collation of audit information as required
  • Monitor aged debt, take appropriate action and prepare reports for management
  • Participate in the testing of process changes in the underwriting system under the guidance of the IT department
  • Produce weekly technical accounts control reports and perform appropriate review processes.

Technical Skills & Experience

  • 2-5 years of accounting and/or financial operations in (re)insurance
  • Experience from the insurance and reinsurance sector is a merit as well as working in a global operation.
  • Oral and written proficiency in English
  • Analytical mindset with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to tight timescales and meet strict business deadlines.
  • Good Microsoft Office knowledge, intermediate Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
  • Ability to take responsibility, work proactively and continuously improve activities in complex, quickly transforming environments.
