Sirius Analysis is a rapidly growing consultancy firm, renowned for delivering high-quality, technical consultancy services to our clients, ranging from Investment Appraisal, Systems Engineering to P3M. We operate across multiple sectors, including defence, energy, and Nuclear. We are looking for an Assistant Finance Manager to join our team.
Our finance team is key in the long-term success of our company, by contributing to the strategic planning of the organisation, whilst maintaining the financial controls and stability.
The Assistant Finance Manager plays a key role in supporting the finance function working closely with the Finance Manager and Finance Assistant in various accounting tasks and developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This role is ideal for someone who is confident working with financial data and systems, with a proven background in finance or accounting and a strong understanding of how good financial management supports the wider business.
Responsibilities will include:
- Raising sales invoices across the group, including liaising with other departments and customers, credit control
- Working closely with the Commercial team to ensure compliance with all aspects of customer and supplier POs, sales orders and invoicing
- Engage in payroll activities during month-end, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, and providing essential support for smooth operations.
- Maintaining daily financial transaction processes and ensuring they are recorded accurately.
- Preparing monthly accounts including P&L and Balance sheet reports including all reconciliations and journals.
- Support the Finance Manager with the day-to-day running of the Finance function.
- Ensure internal project management and finance systems reconcile and promptly address any issues.
- Support the Finance Assistant with processing of purchase invoices, employee expense claims, supplier statement reconciliations and resolving queries
- Daily bank transaction reconciliations in Xero
- Ensuring accuracy and compliance to both internal policies and external regulations
- Support the Finance Manager with internal projects such as budget preparations, year-end activities and audit queries
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following attributes:
- Substantial proven experience in a finance or accounting role
- Excellent numeracy and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data
- Confident communicator with strong verbal and written customer service skills including the ability to explain finance matters to non-specialists
- Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in financial processing
- Strong organisational and time-management abilities, capable of prioritising tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
- Working knowledge of project invoicing and commercial terms or experience with complex sales invoicing.
- Knowledge of payroll processes and regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Proficiency in Xero or similar accounting software, with a deep understanding of bookkeeping practices and financial reporting.
- Experience with Synergist is desirable.
- Integrity and transparency in handling sensitive financial information
- AAT Level 3 or equivalent

- Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
- Candidates must be willing to undergo an internal baseline personnel security standard check prior to starting their employment with the company.
- Candidates must be willing and eligible to complete a United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) security clearance application to the Security Check (SC) level upon starting their employment with the company. To gain SC Clearance you will normally need at least 5 years' UK residency.
