The Pre-Construction Buildability – Project Engineer role – Methods Manager Role
Reporting to the Logistics Manager, the Project Engineer will focuses on developing practical, efficient, and safe construction methods. As a growing discipline in the UK, it offers strong progression opportunities.
You\’ll be responsible for providing support to the ‘methods\’ team. In particular:
Review and input to the constructability of the permanent design.
Draw up the structural works execution strategy.
Draw up a preparation schedule for Methods and Plant.
Participate in technical/price studies for different construction solutions for the structure.
Set the execution methods (methods sequencing, operating procedures, phasing, cycles) in line with the Programme and the Quality-Safety-Environment rules.
Carry out studies regarding site installations and the lifting equipment working closely with the lifting team.
Determine all plant resources needed for steelwork erection, cladding installation, M&E Logistical movements and safety.
Provide monitoring and inspection of manufacturers of special plant/equipment: consultation, ordering, checking the calculation notes and fabrication drawings, acceptance in factory, dummy assembly, packaging.
Manage the Methods technicians/engineers and draughtsperson.
Monitor studies of technical risks (Methods) of the project.
Your profile
Engineering Degree qualified and preferably have a construction engineering industry related Professional membership (e.g ICE, IStructE, MCIOB, etc)
Experience of working on large construction projects £100mil +
Knowledge of the full Microsoft office suite
Autocad skills to review or sketch designs preferred – but ability to pick up software with training quickly.
Coordination and negotiation skills
Technical knowledge and commercially minded
Methodical, have authority, tenacious and have a sense of responsibility.
