Reporting into the senior project leadership team, you will provide strong technical, construction and leadership direction to support the safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of the project. You will lead and coordinate teams of engineers, site management and subcontractors, ensuring that construction, engineering and design activities are effectively aligned with programme, quality, safety and commercial objectives. - Provide visible leadership across construction and engineering activities, promoting a strong culture of safety, quality and collaboration.
- Lead and coordinate engineering, site management, works teams and subcontractors to ensure effective project delivery.
- Oversee construction engineering activities, ensuring designs, methodologies and procedures are appropriate and compliant with relevant regulations, specifications and industry standards.
- Coordinate design, engineering, procurement and construction activities to ensure alignment with the project programme.
- Monitor project progress and identify risks and opportunities across design, procurement and construction activities, implementing appropriate mitigation measures.
- Identify, manage and mitigate technical and construction risks while supporting value and performance improvements.
- Work closely with the project and commercial teams to support delivery within programme and budget requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and other key stakeholders.
- Provide leadership, mentoring and technical guidance to engineering and construction teams.
- Set and manage short- and long-term objectives, ensuring alignment with wider project goals.
- Contribute to internal and external project reporting, providing clear updates on progress, risks, opportunities and technical matters.
- Maintain accurate and auditable records relating to engineering decisions, approvals, technical changes and construction activities.
We are looking for experienced construction and engineering leaders who have a strong track record of delivering large-scale or complex construction projects.
You will ideally:
- Have proven experience as a Senior Construction Manager, Chief Engineer, Construction Manager or similar senior delivery role on major construction projects.
- Have strong technical and construction knowledge, with the ability to lead complex construction activities and multidisciplinary teams.
- Have experience managing and coordinating engineers, site teams, subcontractors and wider project stakeholders.
- Have a strong understanding of construction methodology, sequencing, design coordination and project delivery.
- Be experienced in identifying and managing construction and technical risks.
- Have excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Be commercially aware and able to understand the impact of construction decisions on programme, cost and project performance.
- Be a strong advocate for health, safety and wellbeing, with a proven commitment to maintaining high standards across project delivery.
- Have experience working collaboratively with clients, consultants and supply chain partners.
- Hold an SMSTS qualification and valid CSCS card.
