This is a new and exciting opportunity to support the leadership of the English department. This role will develop you both personally and professionally to ensure you reach your full potential. Lift Winton is a popular secondary school with fantastic facilities and a great reputation within the local community. We are ambitious about becoming the best school in Hampshire and have recently appointed a new Principal, Myles Preston, who brings over ten years of experience in teaching and leadership roles. We aim to create a high-performing school that places community and care at the forefront of all that we do. The school has received a ‘Good’ rating in the latest Ofsted visit in 2023.
Your new role: The Second in English supports the Head of English to lead and manage the department, ensuring that all teachers are positioned to provide an excellent education. You will be an exceptional practitioner, leader, coach, and supporter of other teachers, helping to design and deliver a curriculum that is stimulating, engaging, and inclusive for all students. You will support the Head of English in fulfilling the department vision and implementing strategies that promote student enjoyment and excellence in the subject. As part of Lift Schools, we have set the goal of 90% of our students achieving a good pass in English and Mathematics by 2028 and aim to increase the number of students achieving the highest grades each year.
What you’ll need to succeed: We are looking for a qualified English teacher with a proven track record of driving and improving results. You will plan and deliver engaging lessons with the appropriate level of challenge, adapt your teaching style and curriculum to meet the needs of all students, and maintain high ambition for students, the team, and overall departmental standards.
