About the Opportunity
We currently have a requirement for a fixed term Laboratory Technician to cover maternity leave for 6 to 9 months. You will have a key role in performing duties in our laboratory in Aberdeen such as:
· Conducting testing on brines and drilling fluids according to approved standards and other methodology specific to formate fluids.
· Reporting of laboratory test results using standard laboratory reporting tools, procedures & methods.
· Laboratory maintenance, preparing solutions and media and ordering supplies.
· Assisting in matters pertaining to the standardisation of laboratory procedures, audits, quality assurance, calibrations, etc.
· Operating requisite specialised laboratory equipment and instruments, identify any issues in their performance and make recommendations.
· Supporting activities / workload requests from the Operations, R&D and Technical Services teams.
What qualities are required?
We are looking for a degree qualified in and/or an individual with a general understanding of drilling fluid chemistry. You will have the ability to maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment used in drilling fluid chemistry and have a strong working knowledge of chemical safety requirement for laboratories, including proper storage and disposal of special waste materials. You will be enthusiastic and driven with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential as well as strong computer and numerical skills. Must work to applicable SH&E standards.
Desired Qualifications:
The ideal candidate would be educated in chemistry or another energy related discipline or qualified by experience.
