The UK Technical Manager – MEWPs is responsible for the technical integrity, safety, and performance of Sinoboom Mobile Elevating Work Platforms across the UK. Based in Derby, this role combines CAP-level technical competence, LOLER examination duties, and leadership of technical standards, training, and after-sales support for Sinoboom UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Support
    • Act as Sinoboom UK’s primary technical authority for MEWPs.
    • Provide advanced diagnostic and fault-finding support to Sinoboom engineers, dealers, and key customers.
    • Ensure all work on Sinoboom MEWPs meets OEM specifications, UK legislation, and industry best practice.
  • LOLER Examinations & Compliance
    • Undertake thorough examinations of MEWPs in accordance with LOLER and PUWER.
    • Produce accurate, compliant reports of thorough examination and clearly identify and communicate any defects.
    • Advise internal teams and customers on remedial actions and safe continued use, where appropriate.
    • Maintain robust records and systems to demonstrate full statutory compliance for Sinoboom UK.
  • CAP Competence & Safety
    • Apply CAP expertise to ensure Sinoboom MEWPs are inspected, maintained, and modified safely and correctly.
    • Promote a strong safety and compliance culture across Sinoboom UK and its partners.
    • Support investigations and root-cause analysis of technical and safety-related incidents.
  • After-Sales & Customer Support
    • Provide on-site technical support for complex issues, repeated failures, and critical warranty cases.
    • Support the Sinoboom UK sales team with technical input for demonstrations, commissioning, and key account visits.
    • Assist with warranty claim validation and provide feedback to refine Sinoboom’s warranty and service policies.
  • Product & Process Improvement
    • Feed UK field experience and recurring technical issues back to Sinoboom BV and the wider technical team.
    • Support new product introduction in the UK from a technical and compliance perspective.
    • Help develop and improve service processes, inspection checklists, and maintenance schedules for Sinoboom MEWPs.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Significant experience in the MEWP sector (rental, manufacturer, or dealer), typically 5+ years in a senior engineer/technical role.
  • CAP qualified (Competent Assessed Person) – MEWP.
  • Fully competent and authorised to undertake LOLER thorough examinations on MEWPs.
  • Strong knowledge of MEWP electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • In-depth understanding of UK legislation and standards relevant to MEWPs (LOLER, PUWER, Working at Height, EN280 / EN280-1, etc.).
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools, service software, and IT systems (e.g. MS Office, service ticketing systems).
  • Full UK driving licence.
