Single Homeless Project has a new opportunity for a Weekend Support Assistant to join and work in our team based in Islington, London. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary starting at £29,822.41 and rising incrementally to £32,034.46 per annum (pro rata).

About the Weekend Support Assistant role:
Weekends can be a particularly important time in supported accommodation. With fewer services open and less structure around the day, having a consistent, trusted member of staff available can make a real difference to someone’s wellbeing, confidence and ability to keep moving forward.
As a Weekend Support Assistant at St John’s Mansions, you’ll provide practical, person-centred support to residents, helping them build the skills and confidence they need to live more independently. Working from agreed support and risk plans, you might help someone manage their money or accommodation, access appointments and community services, develop everyday living skills or stay engaged with activities and goals that matter to them.
You’ll also play an important role in keeping the service safe and well coordinated throughout the weekend. You’ll respond to changing needs, safeguarding concerns and unexpected situations, maintain accurate records and make sure important information is clearly handed over to the wider team. You’ll need to be approachable and compassionate, while also confident in setting boundaries, using your judgement and knowing when concerns need to be escalated.
You’ll join an experienced team where you can develop your knowledge of supported housing, safeguarding, recovery-focused practice and working alongside people experiencing multiple disadvantage, with access to training, supervision and ongoing development.
We have two roles available, 1x 37.5 hrs per week and 1x 22.5 hrs per week. Exact working patterns will be discussed in interview.
About you as our Weekend Support Assistant:
- You can build positive, respectful relationships with people while maintaining clear professional boundaries.
- You’re able to encourage and motivate people to build confidence and independence, rather than simply doing things for them.
- You can stay calm, think clearly and respond appropriately when situations change or become challenging.
- You’re organised and reliable, with the ability to prioritise work, communicate clearly and keep accurate records.
- You understand, or are keen to develop your understanding of, homelessness, mental health, trauma, substance use and the barriers people can face when trying to move forward.
Our attractive benefits package includes:
- A salary increase after successfully completing six month’s probationary period.
- A 37.5 hour working week including flexible working hours (core hours are 10am – 4pm) in non-accommodation services.
