Single Homeless Project has a new opportunity for a Housing Advice Worker to join our team based in Brent, London. You will join us on a full-time, fixed term contract until the end of February 2027. In return, you will receive a competitive salary starting at £29,028.99 and rising incrementally to £31,146.38 per annum (pro rata).
About the Housing Advice Worker role: As a Housing Advice Worker, you will be part of Single Homeless Project’s Pan London Housing Advice and Interventions Service, delivered in partnership with St Mungo’s and the Ministry of Justice. Your work focuses on helping people on probation find secure housing, sustain current accommodation, or secure new housing where needed. Day‑to‑day duties include holding a caseload, completing strengths‑based assessments, exploring housing, financial, employment, and wider support needs, and building practical plans that translate pressure and uncertainty into clear next steps. You will also identify risks and safeguarding concerns, maintain accurate case records, liaise with housing providers and specialist agencies, and collaborate with partners such as probation and police to help clients access safe, realistic, and sustainable accommodations and opportunities.
Skills and experience we're looking for in our Housing Advice Worker:
- Understanding that housing advice can be life‑changing, with experience in supported housing, floating support, or a relevant qualification, and a working knowledge of housing legislation.
- A strong ability to stay composed during emotionally charged or fast‑moving situations, keeping client safety, choices, and next steps at the centre.
- Proficiency in partnership work, building relationships with agencies, services, and professionals that open doors for clients.
- A commitment to delivering a service that feels human, purposeful, and high‑quality, where clients are informed, respected, and supported to take more control of their future.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied caseload and balance competing priorities without losing sight of the person behind each case.
Our attractive benefits package includes:
- A salary increase after successful completion of the six‑month probationary period.
- A 37.5‑hour working week with flexible hours (core hours are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.) in non‑accommodation services.
- 25 days annual leave, increasing annually to a maximum of 30 days (plus paid Bank Holidays).
- A contributory pension scheme: the organisation will contribute the equivalent of 5% of your annual salary.
