About the role:

Every young person deserves more than a safe place to stay. They deserve people who believe in their potential, listen to their ambitions and help them build a future they can feel excited about. At our Ofsted-registered Young Person's Accommodation Service in Islington, you'll play a key role in making that possible, helping looked after young people and care leavers find stability, develop independence and take meaningful steps towards the future they want.

As Deputy Team Manager, you'll work closely with the Services Manager to support, guide and develop a dedicated frontline team, creating an environment where both colleagues and young people feel supported to thrive. You'll bring a thoughtful, trauma-informed approach to leadership, helping staff navigate challenges, strengthen their practice and deliver consistent, high-quality support that puts young people's voices, choices and aspirations at its heart.

Your role will be varied and hands-on, from overseeing support and safety planning, responding to safeguarding concerns and strengthening partnerships with Children's Services and leaving care teams, to supporting service performance, Ofsted compliance and the day-to-day running of the accommodation. You'll also help create opportunities for young people to build life skills, access education and employment, and prepare for their next steps towards independence.

This is an opportunity to develop your leadership experience while making a genuine difference to young people's lives. You'll be part of a service where reflective practice, creativity and collaboration matter, and where your ability to bring out the best in others can help young people recognise what's possible for themselves.

About you:

You're a natural motivator who knows how to bring out the best in people. You've supported or managed frontline teams and can inspire confidence, encourage growth and help colleagues deliver their best work, even when things get tough.

You understand that young people's journeys are rarely straightforward. You've worked with young people in care or care leavers, understand the impact of trauma and know how to balance compassion, boundaries and ambition for their futures.

You're someone who stays calm when things get complicated. You can navigate safeguarding concerns, manage risk and make thoughtful decisions that keep young people safe without losing sight of their independence and choices.

You see opportunities where others might see barriers. You're creative, resourceful and know how to build relationships with young people, professionals and community partners that open doors and make things happen.

You care about getting the little things right as much as the big things. You can juggle competing priorities, maintain high standards in an Ofsted-regulated environment and aren't afraid to challenge, reflect and try something different when it could lead to better outcomes.
