Job Summary

Reporting to the Vehicle Engineering Manager (VEM), this role will actively deliver the Design Verification Plan (DVP) to verify all engineering content for all Singer Vehicle programmes through testing, inclusive of Development and Sign-off testing. Providing technical leadership and guidance to the development team. You will work with external suppliers and internal teams to initially define all the development requirements then working with the VEM translate the requirements into a delivery plan. Tasks include creating plans, co‑ordinating testing activities, ensuring the vehicle is prepared in accordance with the test requirements. Testing both hands‑on and supporting, analysing results and writing reports. This role will actively deliver DVP content to ensure all projects in the operating plan are delivered on time, on budget and to specification. Adheres to Singer’s Operating Principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Chief Engineers, Attribute and Commodity teams to define test plans that meet Programme and Engineering requirements.
  • Planning and executing vehicle testing both in‑house and at external facilities.
  • Collaborating with Chief Engineers, Attribute and Commodity Engineers and other stakeholders to ensure the vehicle/s are prepared in accordance with the requirements.
  • Collaborate with teams outside of Engineering such as Procurement, Programme, Manufacturing etc.
  • Support the specification of appropriate instrumentation based on test requirements.
  • Author and publish test reports from the results gained through testing.
  • Support the identification and collation of appropriate test spares.
  • Maintain records for all test activities, including; test reports, Issues, vehicle specification and other documentation.
  • Ensure the DVP reflects the test requirements that result in a robust Engineering Sign Off.
  • Ability to react and re‑arrange test plan on the basis of available test resource in the case of failures, or re‑assignment of resources to other activities.
  • Support national and international testing.
  • Support financial planning, forecasting, risk and opportunity identification.
  • Commission vehicles.
  • Support and coach the Development Engineers in planning, strategic decision making and reporting.
  • Lead complex decision making and root‑cause analysis and cross‑functional problem solving.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Management team to deliver the Singer Vehicle programmes.

Preferable Qualifications

  • Proving Ground permits – desirable.
  • Full Driving licence.
  • Advanced driving qualifications – desirable.

Experience Required

  • Prior experience in a Senior Engineer position within a Product Development department.
  • Previous experience and understanding of automotive design, vehicle systems, vehicle development and testing processes.
  • Project management and planning experience desired.
  • Proven leadership experience both technical and resource.
  • Experience of proving grounds and test facilities both national and international.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting.
  • A relevant qualification in Automotive or Motorsport Engineering.
