We’re looking for a CNC Operator on a 6-month fixed-term basis to join our dynamic machine shop. You'll be instrumental in crafting the precision mechatronic parts that make our automated lab systems possible. Located near Minehead on the UK's South West coast, Singer offers world-class culture and benefits.

The role

Are you a dynamic, detail-oriented individual with a passion for precision engineering? We're looking for candidates to come and make a big contribution to our small workshop team for the precision manufacture of low volume production and R&D components on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You’ll join the Workshop, operating out of an established R&D and manufacturing facility. Our machine shop utilises top-of-the-line equipment, including an NL2500 Lathe, Heidenhain Milling Machines, DMG Mori, and a Spinner 5-Axis.

What you'll bring to our team (key contributions)

  • Precision Machining: You will operate CNC machines and manual operations to drawings with micron tolerances.
  • Workflow Management: You will collaborate to prioritise work schedules with the team to ensure efficient production.
  • Quality Control: You will check components in line with strict quality processes and procedures to maintain our high standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: You will carry out essential checks and maintenance duties on our workshop equipment.
  • Safety First: You will meticulously adhere to all Health & Safety procedures.

  • Strong "Engineering" characteristics with a passion for manufacturing.
  • The ability to work with very small volumes in a busy, flexible environment.
  • The capability to work with metric and imperial - strong mathematical skills are key.
  • A great eye for detail and a continuous improvement methodology.
  • Excellent team working skills as well as the ability to drive individual task completion.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and great communication skills.
  • The ability to work with a variety of IT systems.

This is an entry-level position. We are looking for candidates who hold Engineering Qualifications, but no direct CNC experience is necessary as full training will be provided.
