Sing Education are looking for reliable, confident and inspirational small group and one-to-one teachers to teach violin, piano and guitar (Grade 6 level minimum) with a degree in music or a related field (i.e. musical theatre/music education) to join our team of specialist music teachers.

Teaching days:

  • Violin - Wednesday
  • Piano - Monday pm
  • Guitar - Thursday am

Rate of Pay: Freelance basis - £23-£27 per hour

What we do: Sing Education source and train music teachers, develop teaching resources and provide management and consultancy services to schools in London. We enable children to encounter the transformative power of music in their lives, by experiencing the joy of singing and making music collectively at school.

Details:

  • Weekly teaching, during school hours - 9am-2.30 term time
  • 1 hour Music Club 3.20pm-4.20pm
  • Permanent placement in a Sing Education primary school/s
  • Teaching can be 1-5 days per week
  • Teaching locations: primary schools in Greater London, Slough, Kent and North Yorkshire

Must have (or be willing to apply for through us) an Enhanced DBS Disclosure. Communicate professionally and clearly to represent Sing Education within a school setting. Attend and engage with Sing Education team training and induction sessions.

Sing Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undergo the child protection screening appropriate to the post, including an enhanced disclosure from the DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) and references from previous employers.

Requirements:

  • Qualification: University graduate with a good degree in music or a related field
  • Knowledge and Skills:
    • Strong singing voice and confidence to use the singing voice to support pupil learning
    • Excellent spoken and written English
    • Ability to lead small group (up to 5 people) and one-to-one lessons
    • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
    • Basic keyboard skills if not first instrument
    • A degree of ICT literacy and ability to use online systems such as G Suite and other communication platforms
    • Knowledge of or experience in Kodály and Dalcroze teaching practices
    • Ability to accompany on the piano/guitar for choir, assemblies and other performances
  • Relevant Experience:
    • Classroom or one-to-one teaching experience
    • Experience of working with children or young people in a teaching or leadership capacity
    • Experience of leading music workshops
    • Experience of working with children with SEND
  • Personal Qualities:
    • Ability to lead and inspire a passion for music in pupils
    • A firm approach to discipline, and good management skills
    • The ability to work well as part of both Sing Education and in-school teams
    • The ability to maintain confidentiality as appropriate
    • A sense of humour
    • An ability to generate enthusiasm for music in the wider life of the school
    • A high level of personal organisation and good communication skills
    • A commitment to personal and company wider development
