This role involves providing strategic leadership across the Major Projects portfolio, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with programme, commercial, and quality expectations. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the successful delivery of complex HV infrastructure projects typically operating at 33kV–132kV across all business verticals such as Data Centres.
- Acting as the senior escalation point for project delivery challenges including programme delays, technical issues, commercial risks, and stakeholder concerns.
- Supporting the Operations Director in managing delivery performance across the Major Projects portfolio.
- Ensuring projects are effectively mobilised and delivered from pre‑construction through to commissioning and final handover.
- Providing governance and oversight across multiple concurrent projects within the Major Projects portfolio.
- Maintaining robust project control frameworks including programme management, risk management, change control, and reporting.
- Overseeing project financial performance including cost control, forecasting, margin protection, and change management.
- Working collaboratively with the Commercial team to manage contractual obligations, variations, and compensation events.
- Establishing, maintaining, and developing strong mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders.
- Providing senior operational and technical guidance across HV project delivery.
- Ensuring projects comply with CDM Regulations, ENA standards, BS7671, NERS accreditation requirements, and company SHEQ policies.
- Providing leadership and mentoring to Senior Project Managers and Project Managers.
- Championing and driving continuous improvement across project delivery processes.

- Strong leadership capability driving high‑performing project delivery teams.
- Role model in delivering excellence in programme and portfolio management skills.
- Strong understanding of high‑voltage electrical infrastructure delivery.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage project budgets and financial performance.
- Ability to identify, manage, and mitigate risks across complex delivery programmes.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making capability.
- Ability to implement and maintain robust project governance and control processes.
- Strong organisational and coordination skills.
- Commitment to promoting a strong safety, quality, and continuous improvement culture.
- Extensive experience delivering high‑voltage electrical infrastructure projects.
- Proven track record delivering complex multi‑million‑pound infrastructure projects.
- Experience working within regulated utility environments.
- Demonstrated experience managing large project portfolios.
- Strong understanding of HV cable systems and substations.
- Experience managing project financial performance.
- Proven ability to lead and develop project management teams.
- Project Management qualification such as APM, PRINCE2, or PMI.
- Relevant qualification in engineering, construction management, or project delivery desirable.
- Full UK Driving Licence (maximum 3 points).
