This role involves:

  • Leading and scaling the design function, aligning delivery with commercial, programme, and client priorities.
  • Overseeing development of concept scheme designs, ensuring alignment with Sinewave requirements and strategy.
  • Overseeing the production of schematic diagrams from basic philosophy or engineer’s sketches.
  • Completing audits and input into quality assurance on new and existing facilities to ensure installations are in line with both the design intent and best practices.
  • Leading the design team in verification, validation, and certification of designs.
  • Owning performance, capability, and development of the design team, driving accountability and growth.
  • Acting as keystone stakeholder with commercial, translating technical design into scope, risk, and value.
  • Managing design registers and design submissions, acting as reference/escalation point for queries from IDNO/DNO.
  • Managing design data and records in line with ISO requirements.
  • Ensuring proper engineering rigour on Designs for safety for LV-33KV projects.
  • Driving continuous improvement of design governance, processes, and delivery efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in the use of Productivity and Collaboration Software such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, including ability to adapt communication styles and outstanding listening skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to use own initiative as well as work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Confident in working collaboratively as well as using own creativity and initiative to develop high standard designs.
  • Excellent attention to detail which can be maintained when working under pressure.
  • Confident in planning activities and managing the execution of associated designs.
  • Proactive approach to solving challenging design issues.
  • Able to accurately carry out volt drop, cable calculations and earthing calculations as needed.
  • OEM / switchgear knowledge and understanding.

You’ll be a successful Design Manager at Sinewave if you:

  • Hold a Bachelor Degree in electrical or construction engineering or have comparable demonstrable experience.
  • Have a driving licence (maximum of 3 points).
  • Have demonstrable experience in managing a small to medium design team.
  • Have experience working with an IDNO / DNO.
  • Have experience of G81 requirements.
  • Understand relevant BS EN/ISO technical standards for cables/earthing etc.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and business ethics codes, including the anti-bribery policy.
