We are currently recruiting for a Purchasing Assistant at our Chester office. The Purchasing Assistant works within the Supply Chain team to assist the Demand Manager in updating the ERP system with the latest demand and using the MRP process to agree production and purchasing needs. The Purchasing Assistant will monitor supplier accounts to ensure lead times and other key attributes are correct so the materials needed are available on time.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working in a B2B Purchasing or Supply Chain role, and effective communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Updating demand plans with opening stock, latest forecasts and suggested purchases
  • Reviewing co-ops forecasts for accuracy vs actuals
  • Raising and updating stock purchase orders on ERP system
  • Weekly calls with internal and external suppliers to review expected ship dates and quantities
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with suppliers and internal customers
  • Highlighting delays or shortfalls to the Demand Manager, and assisting in stock allocations if there are shortages
  • Providing updates to the Customer Service and Inventory teams on potential short dated stock
  • Working with the MIS team to ensure new products are created in the ERP and Forecasting systems
  • Admin tasks as required, including non-stock purchase orders

Your Skills & Experience – Do You Have What it Takes?

Essential:

  • GCSE English & Maths (or equivalent)
  • English – fluent or native
  • Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Previous experience of working in a B2B Purchasing or Supply Chain role
  • Effective communication
  • Demonstrable administration skills
  • Computer Literacy

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in Purchasing or Supply role for FMCG
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel
  • CIPS
