We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Programmer Setter Operator to join a well-established engineering manufacturer in Bromsgrove. This is a hands-on CNC machining role where you will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC machining equipment to produce high-grade stainless-steel parts and precision components.
The role would suit an experienced CNC Machinist who is confident working from engineering drawings, creating or editing G-code, setting CNC machines and machining finished components to the required specification. You will be working with Haas CNC machining centres and CNC lathes, producing parts used in the build of bespoke engineered equipment.
The Role
As CNC Programmer Setter Operator, you will take engineering drawings, convert them into G-code, set the appropriate CNC machining centre or lathe, and operate the machine to produce accurate finished parts. This is not an operator-only role. You will be expected to programme, set and operate CNC equipment, taking responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your own work. The role will also involve CNC milling, CNC turning, finishing, measuring, deburring and supporting wider workshop activity when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Programming, setting and operating CNC machining centres and CNC lathes
- Creating, editing and working with G-code programs
- Working from SolidWorks and engineering drawings
- CNC milling and CNC turning of stainless-steel components
- Setting machines, selecting tooling and preparing jobs for machining
- Producing precision machined parts to the required tolerances
- Checking finished components using precision measuring tools
- Carrying out benchwork, finishing and deburring operations
- Operating associated workshop equipment, including grinders and pillar drills
- Preparing finished parts for fabrication, assembly or the next production stage
- Carrying out daily and weekly maintenance checks on the equipment you use
- Supporting assembly or general workshop duties when machining work is quieter
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone with previous experience as a CNC Programmer Setter Operator, CNC Machinist, CNC Miller, CNC Turner or similar. You must be able to programme, set and operate CNC machinery, rather than simply load and run pre-set jobs. You should be comfortable working from drawings, producing accurate components and taking responsibility for the quality of your own work.
Suitable Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience with:
- CNC programming, setting and operating
- G-code programming
- CNC milling and/or CNC turning
- Haas machining centres and/or Haas CNC lathes
- Working from engineering drawings
- SolidWorks drawings or CAD-based manufacturing information
- Stainless-steel machining
- Precision measuring tools
- Tool selection, speeds, feeds and machining methods
- Benchwork, finishing, deburring and general workshop duties
Experience with Haas machines would be highly beneficial, although candidates with strong CNC programming, setting and operating experience on other CNC machine platforms will also be considered.
Why Apply?
This is a permanent, days-based CNC Programmer Setter Operator role with a stable engineering manufacturer producing high-quality components for bespoke equipment. The role offers:
- Salary of £38,000 - £40,000 per annum, depending on experience
- Paid overtime at enhanced rates
- Permanent days
- Early finish on Fridays
- Varied CNC programming, setting, operating and finishing work
- Exposure to bespoke engineering and precision stainless-steel components
- A hands-on role where you can take ownership of parts from drawing through to finished component
If you are an experienced CNC Programmer Setter Operator, CNC Machinist, CNC Miller or CNC Turner with programming, setting and operating experience, please apply today for immediate consideration.
