Maintenance Engineer - Days South Cumbria Base Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum, depending on experience Days: Monday to Friday - No Regular Weekend Working SimWest Engineering Recruitment is working with an established manufacturing business in South Cumbria to recruit a Maintenance Engineer for its site engineering team. This is a hands-on maintenance position within a long-established manufacturing site that operates as part of a wider UK manufacturing group. The business has seen increased order levels and is continuing to strengthen its engineering capability, creating an opportunity for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a small, close-knit team. THE ROLE You will work as part of the site engineering function, supporting the reliability and performance of production machinery and equipment. The role will involve a mixture of planned maintenance, breakdown support and engineering improvement work. Your responsibilities will include: Carrying out planned and preventative maintenance Responding to machinery breakdowns Fault finding and repairing production equipment Supporting machinery reliability and reducing downtime Completing routine engineering inspections Supporting site-based engineering projects Assisting with machinery improvements and modifications Working closely with production to resolve engineering issues Helping maintain a safe and well-organised engineering environment Because this is a relatively small engineering team, you will have plenty of variety in the role and will be encouraged to take ownership of engineering problems rather than being restricted to one particular area of maintenance. ABOUT YOU We are looking for a practical Maintenance Engineer with experience working within a manufacturing or production environment. You will ideally have: Previous maintenance experience within manufacturing Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills Experience working with production machinery A practical, hands-on approach to maintenance The ability to work independently as well as part of a small engineering team A recognised engineering qualification or apprenticeship would be advantageous THE COMPANY The company is an established manufacturing business with a long history in the South Cumbria area.
