Are you a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembler, Bench Fitter or mechanically biased Assembly Engineer looking for a permanent role building bespoke machinery from the ground up? This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing engineering business in Holbeck, Leeds, working on the mechanical build and assembly of new bespoke production and process machinery.
The main focus of the role will be new machinery builds, including mechanical fitting, sub-assembly work, component installation, alignment, adjustment and final build work. You will also support the dismantling, refurbishment and rebuild of used machinery, giving you a good variety of hands-on mechanical fitting work.
You will be joining a down-to-earth, industrious machine build workshop where the focus is on proper mechanical fitting, quality workmanship and getting machinery built, rebuilt and ready for customer sites. The company has a full order book for the next two years, continued growth, and plenty of paid overtime available at enhanced overtime rates for candidates who want to increase their earnings.

The role:
As Mechanical Fitter, you'll be mainly involved in the build and assembly of new bespoke machinery, with additional work on machinery refurbishment, rebuilds and mechanical modifications. The work will include:
- Building and assembling new bespoke production and process machinery
- Carrying out mechanical fitting, hand fitting, assembly and adjustment work
- Building sub-assemblies and full machinery assemblies
- Installing mechanical components onto machinery builds
- Working with shafts, gears, sprockets, bearings, and gearboxes
- Setting clearances and making mechanical adjustments
- Working with conveyors, guarding, pneumatics and mechanical drive systems
- Reading and working from engineering drawings
- Using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring equipment
- Using equipment such as Verniers, height gauges and other measuring tools
- Modifying parts where required to ensure correct fit and alignment
- Working to tight tolerances
- Supporting the dismantling, refurbishment and rebuild of used machinery when required
What we're looking for:
We're interested in speaking with candidates who have experience in mechanical fitting, machinery assembly, bench fitting or mechanical build work. You'll need:
- Experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Assembler, Bench Fitter or similar
- Good ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Experience building or assembling machinery, production equipment or mechanical systems
- Experience working with shafts, bearings, gearboxes, drive systems or mechanical assemblies
- Confident use of hand tools and power tools
- Experience using measuring equipment such as Verniers, height gauges or similar
- A good eye for detail and the ability to work to tight tolerances
Experience with bespoke machinery, process machinery, production machinery, conveyors, automated equipment or special purpose machinery would be highly relevant.
