Based in Stockport, we are a specialist in the design and build of inspection and simulation machines. Due to continued growth, we are expanding our team and seeking an Installation and Maintenance Engineer to join us. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in a dynamic and growing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership & Support: Provide advanced technical support, diagnose and troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues, and lead service interventions and projects.
  • Mentoring & Training: Mentor and guide junior engineers, providing training on new features, best practices, and advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • System Management: Oversee system performance, conduct regular audits and performance assessments, and ensure optimal system reliability.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed records of service activities, system configurations, and equipment maintenance.
  • Customer Engagement: Build strong relationships with customers, provide clear feedback, explain product functionality, and manage technical issues to maximize customer benefit.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all service activities comply with company policies, industry standards, safety regulations, and relevant legislation.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams, including design and product development, to resolve technical problems and implement system improvements.

Person Specification

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Typically requires 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, with proven ability in troubleshooting and repair of complex systems. Proven track record of working in a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems, and experience with specific Operational Technology (OT) systems or Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
  • Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, customer service, leadership, teamwork, and adaptability are essential for bridging technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Additional Requirements: Willingness to travel internationally and work flexible hours during these trips to meet service and installation needs. International travel would, usually, be no more than 2 weeks at a time and a maximum of 8 times per year. Wherever possible we would combine installation and service visits into the same trip as many of our clients are overseas. The remainder of the time would primarily be office based in Stockport (workshop on site) building systems and providing remote customer support. Full UK driving license and a valid passport with no travel restrictions are essential. Flexibility, professionalism, and a proactive approach with drive to identify improvements, monitor service health and proactively address potential issues to prevent future problems. A commitment to service excellence and a desire to understand and respond to client problems. Must be eligible to work in the UK as visa sponsorship cannot be provided.
