We are a UK-based technology company providing advanced glass inspection and quality control systems, expanding into China as a priority strategic market. This UK-based role is designed for a commercial professional who understands the Chinese manufacturing landscape and can both analyse the market and win new business. You will begin by building a clear, data-driven understanding of the float glass industry in China, then transition into a full sales leadership role, driving growth across China and, over time, wider Asia.
The successful candidate must live within commuting distance of our Stockport office and will be expected to work from the office four days per week when not travelling. The role involves a significant amount of travel, particularly across China and wider Asia.
The Mission
- Phase 1 - China Market Mapping & Insight
- Map float glass manufacturers, plants, and production capacity across China
- Identify key decision-makers and buying structures within target accounts
- Analyse current inspection solutions, competitors, and technology gaps
- Build a practical, prioritised target account list and market strategy
- Phase 2 - New Business Growth (China → Asia)
- Develop and convert a strong pipeline within China
- Engage customers directly at plant and management level
- Lead the full sales cycle: prospecting, technical discussions, negotiation close
- Expand successful commercial activity into wider Asian markets
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Driving new customer acquisition and revenue growth in China
- Establishing the company's presence and credibility in the local market
- Building relationships with plant managers, engineers, and decision-makers
- Positioning technical value and ROI to Chinese manufacturing customers
- Managing long, complex sales cycles for capital equipment
- Providing clear market feedback and insights to the UK headquarters
- Undertaking significant and frequent international travel, particularly across China and wider Asia
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in technical B2B sales within China
- Strong track record of developing new customers and closing complex deals
- Experience working with industrial or manufacturing clients
- Deep understanding of how business is done in China (commercial, cultural, and practical)
- Ability to work independently while coordinating with an international team
- Fluent spoken and written Mandarin Chinese and English
- Must live within commuting distance of the Stockport office
- Able to work from the Stockport office four days per week when not travelling
