We’re looking for a talented Middleweight Designer to join our creative team and help us deliver brilliant work for ambitious B2B brands. Sims Creative is an independent creative agency for the energy transition. We work with ambitious B2B brands on everything from brand identity and campaigns to ongoing creative delivery support through our Creative as a Service model.
This is a great opportunity for a designer who wants to do more than just make things look good. You’ll be involved in a wide range of creative projects, from brand identity and campaign concepts to websites, presentations, digital assets and ongoing design support. You’ll work closely with our Head of Design, account team and wider studio to turn business challenges into clear, compelling creative work. You’ll be expected to take day-to-day design projects from brief through to delivery, with support and direction where needed, but enough confidence and experience to move work forward independently.
We’re a small but growing agency, so ideas matter and opinions are encouraged. If you’re ambitious, thoughtful, detail-focused and want to grow in a supportive team, this could be a great fit.
What you’ll be doing:
- Creating high-quality design work across brand, campaign, digital and print projects
- Taking briefs from the account team and asking the right questions to understand the challenge
- Developing creative concepts and explaining the thinking behind your work
- Designing websites and digital experiences — coding is not required
- Producing layouts, presentation decks, social assets, brochures, reports and campaign materials
- Working closely with our Head of Design to develop and refine creative ideas
- Taking responsibility for day-to-day projects from start to finish
- Managing your own time and keeping work on brief, on brand and on deadline
- Bringing ideas, energy and care to the creative team
What we’re looking for:
- A Middleweight Designer with strong agency or commercial design experience
- A portfolio that shows excellent typography, layout and attention to detail
- Strong creative thinking, not just polished execution
- Experience across branding, campaigns and digital design
- Confidence working from concept through to final artwork
- Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Figma
- An organised, reliable designer who can manage multiple projects at once
- Someone who takes pride in the details, even when deadlines are tight
- A team player with a positive, down-to-earth attitude
- Someone who wants to learn, grow and keep getting better
- Alignment with our values: creativity, empathy and clarity
- Experience in B2B, energy, clean-tech, utilities or technology would be useful, but it’s not essential. What matters most is strong creative judgement, a brilliant eye and the ability to make complex ideas feel simple.
In return, expect:
- Competitive salary, depending on experience
- Hybrid working with regular time in our Loughborough studio
- Flexible working hours
- Christmas closure
- A grounded, supportive team with no big egos
- The chance to work on interesting clients who are making a difference
- A clear progression path with a skills matrix and personal development programme
- Hands-on mentoring from our Head of Design
- The opportunity to make a real impact in a growing creative agency
Please include your CV and three examples of your best work with your application. For each piece, add a short note explaining the brief, your thinking and your role in the project. We welcome applications from everyone irrespective of ethnic origin, gender, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, marital status, disability or social background. This is a great opportunity for someone to come in, grow with us and make a difference.
