Simpsons Malt are the UK's leading, independent malting Company, with 150+ years of successful supply to brewers and distillers. Our Tivetshall Maltings site has received significant investment and produces a range of quality speciality and base malts for the brewing industry, with an increasing worldwide export business.
This is a challenging production site, with 7X24 batch processing and a wide range of plant and equipment that includes older driers, dressers, elevators & conveyors as well as new PLC controlled roasting ovens, germinating vessels and a palletiser/bagging line. In line with this investment program and our increasing focus on continuous improvement activity, we need to grow our site management team.
This role will potentially join a team of Production Managers who work on a Monday to Friday basis, but have 7X24, 360 degree responsibility for a part of the production process/site. You will ensure a quality product, motivate and maintain the health and safety of the operators in your area and actively seek to improve processes, equipment and performance against a range of metrics. While days based, there will be a requirement to take out of hours calls and there is a weekend rota with the rest of the management team.
While people management will always be important to a production manager role, this is a process driven site with a requirement to gain/grow knowledge around the science of malting in order to deliver the value added that our customers expect. There is flexibility as to whether any new manager starts work within a batch processing or line based area and applicants should stress their preference/experience in any cover letter.
The site is safety and quality driven and so the way work is done will take precedence over just producing the numbers to satisfy customer demands.
