Description/Job Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in supporting global financial planning and analysis activities.

Their primary responsibilities involve being strong business partners to the practices and assisting Finance management with the preparation of profitability analysis, headcount reporting, and other ad hoc requests.

The role will focus primarily on performance across Europe and Asia but will also work closely with the US located analytics team on all Firmwide initiatives.

They will need to develop a working knowledge of our analytics tools, financial dashboards and the 3E billing system.

This individual will be required to collaborate across all levels of Firm personnel, including Partners, and various administrative departments, including different groups within Finance.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Collaborate with the Practices to help them reach their financial and strategic goals by gaining a thorough understanding of the Practice and proactively offering data-driven recommendations for action.
  • Build relationships with Europe and Asia partners and business leaders to ensure appropriate support of strategic initiatives.
  • Assess profitability analyses of the Europe and Asia groups, including monthly, quarterly and year-over-year comparisons, identifying trends and making recommendations for action.
  • Prepare monthly profitability packages for the Europe and Asia group leaders, with focus on KPI’s such as hours, leverage and expenses.
  • Create monthly and ad-hoc client/matter profitability analyses, including break-even analyses.
  • Assist with various Firmwide initiatives, including revenue projections, the partner elevation process and the annual business planning process.
  • Lead coverage of key clients, provide analysis to inform decisions and drive delivery of strategic client objectives.
  • Contribute to the firm’s business development by delivering insights into our clients' financial performance, analyzing trends, and formulating their strategy.
  • Review headcount (FTE) reporting to ensure proper coding.
  • Assist with development and implementation of process improvements.
  • Identify unusual patterns that require further action and make recommendations for action to Management.
  • Adhere to Firm policy and procedures, escalating issues when appropriate.
  • Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum of five years of financial analysis and/or legal billing experience in legal or related field.
  • Self-starter with a curiosity for underlying business drivers.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and initiative with respect to handling multiple projects and shifting priorities.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a Global team.
  • Ability to effectively present information verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel and Power Point, with the ability to learn new software and operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of basic compliance and internal control requirements.
