An established electronics manufacturing organisation supporting aerospace and high-reliability sectors is seeking a FAIRS Technician to join its Quality team on a fixed-term basis. This role focuses on the creation and verification of AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to ensure product compliance with aerospace standards and customer requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, manufacturing and quality teams to ensure products meet AS9100 traceability requirements, regulatory standards and documented quality processes before release. This position requires a detail-oriented quality professional with strong technical drawing interpretation skills and experience working within aerospace or high-reliability manufacturing environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Create AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) in line with the latest revision
- Produce Forms 1, 2 and 3 independently
- Use customer data packs, engineering drawings and ERP systems to complete reports
- Ensure documentation complies with aerospace and customer standards
- Interpret PCB and mechanical drawings
- Verify ballooned drawing notes using appropriate verification methods
- Record inspection results and control methods used
- Ensure compliance with AS9100 traceability requirements
- Verify concessions and ensure they are applied correctly where required
- Identify non-conformances and ensure objective evidence is documented
- Support compliance with customer and industry standards
- Contribute to the effectiveness of the Quality Management System
- Work closely with engineering, production and quality teams
- Ensure documentation accuracy and compliance integrity
- Support product realisation and release to production
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- Experience working within aerospace manufacturing or high-reliability environments
- Demonstrable experience creating AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports
- Ability to determine verification methods and inspection controls
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings and customer data packs
- High attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to demonstrate objective evidence of compliance and non-compliance
Desirable
- Knowledge of ISO9001, AS9100 or AS9102 standards
- Familiarity with NADCAP (AC7120) or similar aerospace quality frameworks
- Experience working with ERP systems in manufacturing environments
