Our client is an environmental services company operating across the UK with a fleet of 100+ vehicles to get the job done. With significant growth planned, they are looking for a Fleet Performance Officer to keep our drivers safe, our vehicles used well and our fleet running efficiently.
The role
This isn't a desk-bound reporting job. You'll dig into telematics, vehicle camera, fuel and incident data, then talk to drivers face to face about what you've found. You'll bring a fair, consistent approach to driver behaviour across all our regions, so our Regional Operations Managers can focus on delivering the work.
You'll be:
Monitoring driver behaviour using telematics, including speeding, harsh braking, acceleration, cornering and idling
Spotting the difference between one-off incidents and patterns, and keeping accurate driver risk records
Administering our Speed Management Procedure
Holding structured, constructive coaching conversations with drivers, giving them the chance to explain and agreeing clear expectations
Carrying out fair, fact-finding investigations and escalating serious or repeated cases to the Fleet Manager
Analysing fuel use and fuel card activity to spot anomalies and inefficiency
Monitoring vehicle usage and utilisation, including unauthorised or out-of-hours use
Tracking incident and damage trends to help reduce risk
Producing clear reports, dashboards and recommendations, and keeping drivers engaged with positive communications and recognition
What we're looking for
Experience in fleet, transport, driver performance, compliance, health and safety or a similar operational environment
Confidence analysing data and spotting trends, with strong Excel and Microsoft 365 skills
Excellent verbal communication and the confidence to hold difficult conversations
The ability to challenge inappropriate behaviour professionally and stay objective
Sharp attention to detail and record keeping
Discretion with confidential and sensitive information
Strong organisation and the ability to work independently within agreed policies
The kind of person you are
Confident without being confrontational. You build rapport with drivers while still challenging unsafe behaviour, and you look beyond a single event to find the underlying cause. You know the aim is to improve driving and reduce risk, not just to penalise, and you're fair and consistent with everyone.
What's in it for you
Salary: Β£35,000
A role with real impact on safety, cost and culture across the business
Extensive benefits package to support your wellbeing and work-life balance
