A leading law firm in the North West is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Rural Property Solicitor to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with a strong background in rural and agricultural property who is looking for a senior position with responsibility for high-quality work, client relationships, business development and team leadership.

The Role

You will advise a broad range of clients including landowners, landed estates, investors, lenders and developers, handling a varied caseload of rural and agricultural property matters. You will also play an important role in developing the team, supporting junior lawyers and contributing to the strategic direction and growth of the rural property practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advising on acquisitions and disposals of working farms and agricultural land
  • Drafting and negotiating Farm Business Tenancies (FBTs)
  • Advising on grazing licences
  • Advising on sporting rights and licences
  • Drafting and advising on easements
  • First registrations of unregistered land
  • Security work, including single and dual representation
  • Managing your own matters and financial performance
  • Building and developing strong client relationships
  • Supporting and mentoring junior team members
  • Contributing to business development and the growth of the rural property practice
  • Working closely with Private Client, Tax, Succession Planning and Property Litigation teams

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Solid rural/agricultural property experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of rural land and agricultural property matters
  • Excellent client-facing and communication skills
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers
  • A commercial and proactive approach
  • Strong business development and networking skills
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Good IT and case management skills
  • The ability to manage a busy caseload and work to deadlines
