Housing Disrepair Team Leader | Liverpool

I’m working with a well-established specialist housing litigation firm in Liverpool that is looking to appoint a Housing Disrepair Team Leader to join its growing team.

This is a good opportunity for an experienced Housing Disrepair professional who is ready to take the next step in their career and move into a leadership position, while still maintaining their own caseload.

The role

You’ll take responsibility for leading and developing a team of Fee Earners and Paralegals, helping to ensure the team delivers against its targets while maintaining high standards of client care and legal work.

You’ll be involved in:

  • Managing workloads, performance and day-to-day team activity
  • Coaching and mentoring Fee Earners and Paralegals
  • Conducting regular 1-2-1s, team meetings and performance reviews
  • Auditing files and providing technical guidance
  • Supporting with more complex case queries and key documentation
  • Monitoring targets, quality and client service
  • Identifying training needs and opportunities to improve processes
  • Supporting recruitment and onboarding of new team members
  • Working closely with other Team Leaders and senior management
  • Keeping up to date with developments in Housing Disrepair and the wider legal sector

You’ll also run your own caseload, supported by a Paralegal, so this is a hands-on leadership role rather than a position that is purely management focused.

What they’re looking for

The firm is open to candidates with at least 2 years' litigation experience, although Housing Disrepair experience would be strongly preferred.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience handling a busy litigation caseload
  • Strong knowledge of Housing Disrepair
  • Previous experience supervising, mentoring or supporting junior team members
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage competing workloads and deadlines
  • Confidence making decisions and dealing with complex issues
  • A genuine interest in developing others and improving team performance
  • Experience with Proclaim or another case management system would be advantageous

What’s on offer?

  • Competitive salary and bonus
  • Hybrid working
  • Liverpool city centre location
  • Flexible start and finish times
  • 25 days' holiday + bank holidays
  • Birthday off
  • 6% employer pension contribution
  • Company sick pay
  • Subsidised gym membership
  • Death in service benefit at 4x salary
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Training, development and ongoing support
  • Casual dress environment

The firm has been established for over 40 years and specialises in housing litigation, with a strong reputation in the market and a growing team.

If you're currently working in Housing Disrepair and feel you're ready to step into a Team Leader role, I'd be happy to have a confidential conversation and give you more information.
