An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Paralegal to join a busy and supportive Family Law team based in Prescot. This role will involve supporting senior fee earners within a large and fast‑paced department, with a caseload focused predominantly on Care proceedings. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting clients and the wider team across a varied workload. Hybrid working may be available following the successful completion of probation, although the role will require office‑based working for part of the week long term.
The Role
- Opening and setting up new client files
- Providing day‑to‑day support to the Family Law team
- Keeping clients updated on case progress
- Liaising with courts, experts and external agencies
- Managing appointments and diaries
- Taking and making telephone calls
- Preparing hearing bundles and court documentation
- Meeting with clients both in person and remotely where required
- Providing general legal and administrative support
- Attending court to assist counsel and/or clients
- Carrying out Legal Aid assessments and applications
- Taking initial client instructions and appointments
Requirements
- Ideally have at least 12 months’ experience within a Family Law team
- Have strong organisational and time management skills
- Be able to prioritise a busy and demanding workload
- Be confident communicating with clients and third parties
- Work well independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Be proactive, flexible and willing to get involved
- Experience using Case Management Systems and Laserforms
- Experience using the Legal Aid Agency Portal (CCMS)
- Experience using Excel spreadsheets
