An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Director to join a leading and highly regarded Public Liability team based in Manchester. This is a senior leadership role suited to a commercially astute and technically strong litigator who is looking to play a strategic role within a growing practice. Working on a hybrid basis (3 days in the Manchester office and 2 days remote), you will lead complex, high-value public liability matters while contributing to team development, client relationship management, and overall departmental strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a caseload of complex and high-value public liability claims
- Provide strategic oversight and technical guidance on litigated matters
- Supervise and mentor senior associates, associates, and junior team members
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with insurer and corporate clients
- Contribute to business development initiatives and client growth strategies
- Support operational management, financial performance, and case profitability
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal risk procedures
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and court proceedings where required
About You
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (8+ years PQE preferred)
- Significant experience handling defendant public liability claims
- Proven leadership and team management experience
- Strong commercial awareness and client relationship skills
- Excellent technical knowledge of litigation procedures and CPR
- A strategic mindset with the ability to drive team performance and growth
- Confident communicator with strong negotiation and advocacy skills
