A growing specialist law firm in Central Manchester is seeking an ambitious Financial Mis-Selling Paralegal to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in financial mis-selling, consumer claims, or litigation support who is looking to build their expertise within a supportive and reputable practice. The Role
As a Financial Mis-Selling Paralegal, you will support fee earners on a wide range of financial mis-selling matters. You will work closely with clients, lenders, and internal teams to progress claims efficiently and achieve positive outcomes. This is a role suited to someone highly organised, analytical, and confident working with complex financial documents and case files.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing your own caseload of financial mis-selling claims under supervision, progressing files from initial enquiry through to settlement or litigation where required.
- Conducting detailed reviews of financial documents, agreements, bank statements, lending histories, affordability assessments, and DSAR responses.
- Drafting letters of claim, letters of complaint, witness statements, schedules of loss, and other case documentation.
- Liaising with clients to obtain key information, provide updates, and ensure they understand each stage of their claim.
- Preparing case summaries, legal research notes, and evidence bundles for solicitors, barristers, and internal reviewers.
- Communicating with lenders, financial institutions, credit providers, and third parties to obtain documents, negotiate outcomes, or escalate complaints.
- Logging and analysing client financial data to identify patterns of mis-selling, affordability issues, or breaches of regulatory standards.
- Maintaining accurate records, updating case management systems, and ensuring all compliance and regulatory requirements are met.
- Assisting fee earners with pre-action protocol obligations and preparing cases for litigation where settlement is not achieved.
- Supporting colleagues and contributing to the continuous improvement of processes within the team.
About You
- Experience within financial mis-selling, consumer claims, litigation, debt recovery, or a similar legal environment is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and confidence reviewing financial documents, bank statements, and lender information.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to draft clear and accurate documents.
- Strong client-facing skills and confidence speaking with clients from all backgrounds with empathy and professionalism.
- Highly organised, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
- Strong IT skills, including the use of case management systems and Excel.
- A proactive, motivated approach and a genuine interest in developing a career in financial litigation.
