We are recruiting a senior Personal Injury and Medical Negligence solicitor to join a respected law firm as Head of Department. This is a senior leadership opportunity offering full flexibility, including fully remote working, alongside a high-quality caseload and direct client work.

This role is suitable for experienced Personal Injury solicitors, Clinical Negligence solicitors, and litigation lawyers with strong supervisory or leadership capability who are looking for progression, autonomy, and flexibility.

The Opportunity

You will lead a specialist Personal Injury and Medical Negligence team, combining hands-on fee earning with departmental leadership and strategic input. This is a key role within the firm, offering real autonomy, influence, and long-term progression. The role involves managing a varied caseload of personal injury matters and selected medical negligence claims. All work is sourced directly. Fully remote working is on offer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing the Personal Injury and Medical Negligence department
  • Managing a caseload of personal injury matters
  • Handling selected medical negligence claims
  • Supervising, mentoring, and supporting team members
  • Maintaining excellent client care standards
  • Supporting departmental growth and performance

The Team

You will manage a three-strong specialist team, all qualified solicitors, including a part-time solicitor specialising in medical negligence work. The department benefits from an established caseload, strong reputation, and direct work sources.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 4 years PQE in Personal Injury and Medical Negligence
  • Strong technical knowledge and case management skills
  • Ideally previous supervisory or team leadership experience
  • Excellent client care and communication skills
  • Proven billing history
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Strong organisational and delegation skills

Working Pattern

  • Full-time or part-time available
  • Fully remote
