Job Title: Court of Protection Paralegal

Location: North Manchester

Salary: From £25,000 upwards (depending on experience)

About the Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and passionate Court of Protection Paralegal to join a reputable legal team in North Manchester. This role is perfect for someone with a keen interest in social care law, mental capacity law, and working with vulnerable clients. As part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and gain hands-on experience in the Court of Protection.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Court of Protection team with day-to-day case management for clients who lack mental capacity.
  • Drafting and preparing legal documents, including applications to the Court of Protection, reports, and correspondence.
  • Carry out research into relevant case law, legislation, and guidelines.
  • Liaise with clients, their families, social workers, and other professionals, providing clear and concise updates.
  • Prepare and maintain client files, ensuring compliance with the Legal Aid Agency and SRA guidelines.
  • Assist with the preparation for hearings, including compiling bundles and reviewing evidence.
  • Support senior solicitors in the management of complex and sensitive cases.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of client information at all times.
  • Keep up to date with developments in Court of Protection law and practices.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • A Law degree or equivalent legal qualification is desirable.
  • Previous experience as a Paralegal, ideally in Court of Protection, personal injury, or family law, is beneficial.
  • A strong understanding of the Court of Protection and mental capacity law is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Empathetic and able to build rapport with vulnerable clients and their families.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and case management systems.
  • A proactive and motivated individual who can work both independently and as part of a team.
