A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Costs Lawyer to join a well-respected and award-winning North West law firm based in Liverpool. This is a chance to join a genuinely established and growing multi-service firm with an excellent reputation across the region. The firm has over 200 staff across several offices and is recognised for the quality of its work across areas including Clinical Negligence, Court of Protection, Family, Litigation, Civil Liberties and Immigration. The Role

You will join the firm’s in-house Billing Team, supporting a variety of legal departments across the wider business. The role will involve managing your own caseload and handling a broad range of costs work from start to finish. Duties will include:

  • Preparing Bills of Costs, including electronic bills
  • Drafting Costs Budgets, Replies and Points of Dispute
  • Conducting negotiations and advocacy where required
  • Managing your own caseload independently
  • Working closely with fee earners and legal teams across the firm
  • Ensuring KPIs and departmental SLAs are achieved
  • Keeping up to date with legal costs developments and compliance requirements

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience within a legal costs role
  • Previous claimant costs experience preferred
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Advocacy experience
  • Motivated and approachable attitude

Desirable

  • Experience using Cost Master and Proclaim
  • Previous mentoring or supervisory experience
