An established and expanding law firm is seeking an experienced Criminal / Regulatory Solicitor to join its growing Environmental Protection Act prosecutions team. The Role
The successful candidate will manage a caseload of Environmental Protection Act 1990 prosecutions in the Magistrates’ Court, acting in matters involving both private and social landlords. The role will involve handling cases from initial instruction through to settlement, conviction, or trial, while ensuring compliance with all relevant criminal procedure rules and obligations applicable to private prosecutors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Managing a caseload of EPA prosecution matters
- Ensuring compliance with Criminal Procedure Rules and related legislation
- Drafting and reviewing prosecution documents and notices
- Preparing and reviewing prosecution files
- Liaising with courts, counsel, clients, and external stakeholders
- Reviewing disclosure and defence documentation
- Conducting settlement negotiations and trial preparation
- Using case management systems effectively
- Maintaining professional and effective communication throughout all stages of litigation
- Supporting wider team and business operations where required
