Senior Technical Employment Lawyer
Locations: Bristol, Cardiff or Leeds | Full-time or Part-time
An established national law firm is looking to appoint a Senior Technical Employment Lawyer to join its highly regarded Employment team, with the opportunity to be based in Bristol, Cardiff or Leeds. This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced employment law professional with strong technical expertise and the ability to advise on complex, often challenging employment law issues. The successful candidate will report directly to a Group Leader and Partner within the Employment team, playing an important role in supporting the firm's wider employment practice.
The Opportunity
The role will suit an experienced employment law specialist who enjoys dealing with technical, complex and often novel legal issues. You will be responsible for providing high-level technical input, guidance and support across the Employment team, helping to ensure the delivery of accurate, commercially relevant and technically robust advice. Working closely with the Group Leader and Partner, you will have exposure to a broad range of technical employment law matters, contributing to the development of the team's expertise and supporting colleagues across the wider practice. The position will also involve regular interaction with a varied client base, requiring the ability to deal confidently with both lay and insurer clients, alongside experience liaising with defendant insurer claims handlers.
Candidate Requirements

- Qualified Employment Solicitors.
- Chartered Legal Executives specialising in Employment Law.
- Employment Law Barristers.
Candidates must have substantial experience in employment law and, importantly, a strong technical background. The firm is particularly interested in professionals who are confident dealing with complex legal issues, interpreting legislation and case law, and providing clear guidance on challenging employment law questions.
You should also be able to demonstrate:
- Experience advising and dealing with both lay and insurer clients.
- Experience liaising with defendant insurer claims handlers.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
- Confidence providing technical guidance and support to colleagues.
Working Arrangements & Package
- Locations: Bristol, Cardiff or Leeds.
- Working pattern: Both full-time and part-time applications welcomed.
- Hybrid working: 2 days in the office, 3 days working from home.
- Reporting line: Directly to a Group Leader and Partner within the Employment team.
