Our Client requires this person to start ASAP. Initial 2 weeks training provided in Nottingham head office at the start of employment, then primarily home based with occasional office attendance (face-to-face meetings).
ABOUT
Our Client is a UK flexible-power business helping the electricity system stay balanced and reliable when renewable generation is variable or demand spikes. The successful incumbent would be working in a small, hands-on control room environment where pace, accuracy and clear communication are essential. The control room team monitors asset performance daily, spots issues early, coordinates the right response, and works closely with service partners and internal stakeholders to keep operations running smoothly.
THE ROLE
This is a permanent hire and our client is looking for this role to be filled as soon as possible. You will join a small control room team at a growth point for the business. Today the team is made up of two full-time employees, one manager and one part-time colleague, with further growth expected as the platform expands. The role sits close to the operational heartbeat of the business and combines live monitoring, issue resolution, reporting and coordination. This is an opportunity for someone who can stay organised, think on their feet and balance reactive work with proactive follow-up. If you enjoy keeping multiple tasks moving and have strong administration skills, this role could be a strong fit for you.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- You will operate a number of different systems/tools in order to efficiently monitor, identify and communicate systemic/mechanical performance to internal and external teams.
- Manage, control and monitor the fleet of Gas Engines (Power Response Generators).
- Generate, compile and update daily reports evaluating the goals and targets of effective operation.
- Target, investigate and resolve engines availability issues.
- Perform daily root cause analysis of any issues that are a part of day-to-day operation.
- Liaise with Service, Engineering and Management teams, in order to deliver the best performance results.
- Spot performance issues early, assess what is happening, and coordinate the right internal or external response.
- Chase O&M and service providers to resolve faults quickly and keep assets operating effectively.
- Carry out daily root cause analysis and follow issues through to completion.
- Produce, update and compile daily operational reports on goals, targets, performance and exceptions.
REQUIREMENTS
- Considerable preference will be given to those with prior control room experience, but this is by no means essential if you bring the right core skills. The role would suit strong candidates from busy administration, operations or office-based environments where similar transferable skills have been developed.
- Experience handling high volumes of emails, queries or live requests in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong investigation skills, including following issues through, identifying causes and chasing actions to resolution.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to drive continuous improvement within the team.
- The ability to prioritise own workload to ensure that individual, departmental and site targets are achieved.
- Confidence coordinating between multiple parties and keeping people aligned.
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills.
- Good attention to detail, especially when working with reports, operational data and follow-up tasks.
- A proactive, dependable approach and the ability to stay calm when priorities change.
- Clear communication and a practical mindset.
- Preferable but not essential, basic knowledge of SCADA systems (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).
