Our client is a leading global expert in the provision of welding and coating services and operates in several jurisdictions around the world.
The Project Controller will provide robust commercial and contract control across multiple projects, ensuring accurate forecasting, effective cost management, contractual compliance and strong cashflow performance. The role supports Project Delivery and the wider business by protecting project profitability, mitigating commercial risk, and driving governance throughout the project lifecycle from handover to account.
Key Responsibilities:- The Project Controller will be accountable for the delivery of all commercial and contract control activities from project handover through to final account.
- Prepare monthly revenue and cost forecasts per project and present/discuss with the Senior Project Controller, Business Stream Owner and the wider business (as required), identifying and assessing commercial risks and/or opportunities at an early stage.
- Lead profitability meetings to openly discuss each project with the relevant stakeholders, covering comparison to original bid, project-to-date position, final forecast, any risks and/or opportunities, along with the AR (accounts receivable) position of the project including variance to original bid and forecast to completion position.
- Review and track project cashflows, in conjunction with approved budgets and monthly cost spend.
- Understand and manage all contractual requirements for each project, including contractual milestones, key dates/deadlines and revenue recognition, ensuring compliance and maximizing commercial opportunity.
- Raise and submit payment applications to the client for approval and submission of invoices in line with the contract terms and conditions, on a timely basis to avoid negative cashflow to the project ensuring alignment with agreed contractual terms.
- Work in conjunction with the credit controller on any escalation required for non-payment and/or payment queries.
- Raise, submit and agree to any variation orders in accordance with the contract.
- Build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
- Support in the provision of financial evidence for internal or external audits.
Skills & Experience
- Job Specific Education Required: Desirable: Project Management and Project Work understanding, Contract and Commercial Management, Accounting and Finance knowledge (good understanding of accounting terminology).
- Work Experience Required: Essential: Background in relevant commercial role, Knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budget processes, Project forecasting experience, Good excel knowledge. Desirable: ERP system experience, Administration background.
- Skills and Knowledge: Essential: Commercial Leadership and ownership mindset, Influencing & negotiation skills, Analytical & problem-solving skills, Strong Communicator, Business acumen.
The requirement to travel % of time: Travel to other company locations and client sites/offices may be required on an ad hoc basis. Travel for training, workshops and seminars may be required for personal development and business governance.
