Our Client ensures security of energy supply and helps protect populations across the world by providing specialist project development, engineering and safety solutions across the nuclear lifecycle.

The Senior Nuclear Safety Case Engineer is responsible for developing, maintaining and managing nuclear safety case documentation to ensure that nuclear facilities, projects and ongoing operations remain safe, legally compliant and aligned with regulatory expectations. The role provides expert nuclear safety support across design, operations, and maintenance functions, ensuring that all safety justifications, analyses, and management arrangements robustly demonstrate safe operation and meet statutory and regulatory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of innovative technical solutions and submission of winning bids.
  • Manage, control and deliver engineering activities within Bids.
  • Ensure application of the highest standards for health, safety, and environment (including ethics and behaviours).
  • Support the business winning process through input into and review of tender requirements, including estimates and governance.
  • Develop and own delivery of the safety case scope and schedule required to meet customer requirements.
  • Promote effective co-operation across safety case and other functional teams.
  • Develop programme, portfolio or project resource plans to deliver the identified scope.

Entry Level Requirements:

  • Bachelor Honours Degree (minimum) in relevant Science or Engineering related discipline.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and industry experience of a range of nuclear facilities.
  • Demonstrable experience of contributing to Safety Case documentation, for example: Hazard Management Strategy, Radiological Safety Assessments, Attendance at, and production of HAZOP Reports and Safety Reports (PSRs, PCSRs etc.).
  • Demonstrable understanding of the ALARP Principle.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of ONR Safety Assessment Principles.

Fully Competent Requirements:

  • Demonstrable performance at entry level with further evidence to substantiate the above experience.
  • Demonstrable experience in supporting the development of junior staff.
  • Demonstrable experience in verification of peers’ reports.
  • Further participation in HAZOPs, for example as Secretary.
  • Demonstrable awareness of other safety case-related disciplines and associated legislation.
  • Awareness of engineering disciplines and their importance to safety case production.
