Our Client ensures security of energy supply and helps protect populations across the world by providing specialist project development, engineering and safety solutions across the nuclear lifecycle.

The Role:

  • Inputting from a Process Discipline perspective into the planning, management and delivery of multidiscipline bids involving the management, coordination and integration of multidiscipline tasks.
  • The role will include harnessing the capabilities of the business, developing value add solutions, optimising make/buy strategies and supply chain engagement.
  • The management responsibilities include the identification and development of strategic capabilities (people, processes, methods and tools) to meet project and task objectives.
  • At this level; an experienced engineer has a breadth of engineering knowledge & experience, resolves a range of technical issues and problems, compiles technical reports and accompanying presentations, provides, reviews and adheres to specifications in accordance with stakeholder requirements.
  • Coaches, mentors and assists others on matters pertaining to their own discipline, developing business awareness, builds strong working relationships with stakeholders, works independently with limited technical direction or as part of a small team.

Responsibilities:

  • The primary area of accountability will be to lead (from a Process perspective) the development of innovative technical solutions and submission of winning bids. This will require strong team and internal stakeholder management skills – as well as often engaging external supply-chain/partners.
  • The role is accountable for management, control and delivery of engineering activities within Bids.
  • The role must ensure application of the highest standards for health, safety, and environment (including ethics and behaviours) and be fully aware of all authorised documentation, Good Practice Guides and ISO standards.
  • Support the business winning process through input into and review of tender requirements, including estimates and governance.
  • Develops and owns delivery of the engineering scope and schedule required to meet customer requirements.
  • Develop programme, portfolio or project resource plans to deliver the identified scope by engaging across the company.
  • Develops and owns the validation & verification plans for the release of engineering product within the project/programme.
  • Ensure that the project/programme will be delivered safely to time, cost and quality.
  • Ensure the technical integrity of solutions, products and services being delivered within the programme, portfolio or project.
  • Ensure individual project/programmes comply with engineering arrangements.
  • Ensure that the specific project/programme is reviewed, audited, and assured in line with the TQP.
  • Ensure all engineering resource within their project/programme are demonstrably SQEP to meet project requirements.
  • Ensure that procedures, codes and standards are correctly identified and applied to engineering and technical activities.
  • Ensure application of highest standards for health and safety in immediate area of responsibility and ensure all team members across engineering co-operate with respect to company standards about matters on health, safety and environment, ethics and behaviours.
  • Manage resource demands and development of capability skills to match needs of assigned work scopes.
  • Ensure project and technical audits and review are planned & executed in order to impart learning and experience as appropriate and in line with agreed standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of Industry best practice, promote a culture of engineering best practice, provide leadership and assist in driving cultural development and change.
  • Contribute to learning from experience (LfE) requirement, during and post project.

Key Requirements:

  • Essential: Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience.
  • Chartered Engineer status or in process of obtaining.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing teams to deliver analysis activities on a range of project types.
  • Demonstrable experience in covering a variety of tasks across a range of complexities.
  • Excellent communications skills and the ability to interface with other disciplines.

Desirable:

  • Member of relevant institute or significant demonstrable engineering experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council.
  • Experience in managing engineering scope for Projects from concept design to full Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC).
  • Knowledge of the wider (i.e. beyond just proposal writing) Business Winning process.
  • Ability to analyse complex client needs and determine a suitable response.
  • Demonstrate an ability to advise and influence both internally and externally.
  • Ability to challenge in a non-confrontational way.
  • Positive, professional, with the ability to thrive in high-pressure situations and environment. Actively focused on achieving results and objectives and willing to be accountable.
  • Build and maintain relationships with appropriate networks of people.
  • Experience of working in a direct client liaison role.

Minimum Level of Qualifications to be Verified:

  • Engineering degree (or equivalent qualification) in relevant engineering discipline, with significant demonstrable experience.

Special Requirements:

  • Some international travel (in some cases extensive) may be required to fulfil the responsibilities of the role.
  • Security Clearance: The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain SC Level security clearance for this role.
