Simpson Associates transforms raw data into actionable insights that drive positive change. Our Microsoft data expertise, specialist sector knowledge, and innovative advice are some of the reasons clients choose to work with us. Our mission is to help purpose-led organisations from both the public and private sectors harness data as a lever for change and enable them to realise business value more quickly. We provide a full range of services to support organisations on their data transformation journey, from advisory support and data strategy to developing Data & AI solutions and providing managed services.

We are a Microsoft Solutions Partner, holding specialisations in AI Platform on Microsoft Azure, Analytics on Microsoft Azure, Data Warehouse Migration to Microsoft Azure, and Migrate Enterprise Applications to Microsoft Azure. We also hold Solutions Partner designations in Data & AI (Azure), Digital & App Innovation (Azure), Infrastructure (Azure), and Security. We are proud to be recognised as the winner of the 2024 Microsoft Community Response Partner of the Year award, reflecting our dedication to using technology for positive change. Additionally, we are a Databricks partner and an IBM Gold Partner, specialising in Cognos Analytics and Planning Analytics.

The Sales Development Representative role is focused on generating qualified sales appointments and supporting pipeline growth across our Data and AI portfolio. This includes identifying opportunities for both Professional Services and Managed Services, helping customers address specific business challenges and deliver measurable outcomes through effective use of data.

Our approach is consultative and outcome-led. Rather than promoting standalone products, the Sales Development Representative will engage prospects around their data challenges, business priorities, and transformation goals, developing meaningful conversations that translate into high-quality opportunities for the sales team.

This role is suited to someone with early sales experience looking to build a career in a more consultative, solution-focused environment. We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate experience in generating opportunities and progressing conversations, ideally within a technology or data-related context. This could include someone who has experience selling defined products or services and is now ready to take the next step into a more complex, outcome-led sales approach. Equally, it may suit someone who already has experience in a similar role within Professional Services and/or Managed Services.

Working closely with marketing and sales, the Sales Development Representative will use LinkedIn, HubSpot, campaigns, and events to identify and engage prospects, develop conversations, and convert interest into well-qualified opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate qualified sales appointments aligned to sector priorities.
  • Conduct outbound prospecting via phone, email, HubSpot, and LinkedIn.
  • Research target organisations and stakeholders.
  • Engage prospects to understand needs and challenges.
  • Convert engagement into well-qualified opportunities.
  • Follow up marketing campaigns to generate qualified opportunities.
  • Collaborate with sales on outreach and messaging.
  • Develop and refine call scripts.
  • Maintain accurate HubSpot records.
  • Support event and campaign-based lead generation.

Skills and Attributes Required

  • 1–2 years in a SDR or sales/business development role.
  • Exposure to outbound prospecting.
  • Experience qualifying early-stage opportunities.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (HubSpot preferred).
  • Experience selling Professional Services and/or Managed Services desirable.
  • Sales experience within Technology, Data & AI, or Managed Services advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly.
  • Ability to ask effective questions.
  • Strong organisation and time management.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Motivated to progress within a sales career.
  • Curious about data and technology.
  • Proactive and results-driven.
  • Resilient and confident.
  • Structured and coachable.
