Department: Marketing

Employment Type: Fixed Term - Full Time

Location: London

Reporting To: Head of Marketing & Planning

Description: Shape a best-in-class design system that powers both product and digital experience across a multi-brand platform. Turn complexity from multiple acquisitions into one seamless, scalable user experience.

Role Overview: We’re at a pivotal stage of transformation, following multiple acquisitions across the adviser technology and insights space. Now, we’re consolidating these into a unified, future-ready experience -- rethinking how our platforms, products and digital experiences come together. This role will play a critical part across two major initiatives:

  • Creating a unified digital experience through a new CMS and website ecosystem
  • Designing the product experience for Defaqto Unity, our consolidated adviser platform

In summary, an exciting opportunity to define a design system that scales across brands, audiences and products -- and is built for the future, including AI-driven experiences.

What you need to deliver:

  • Establish a unified, scalable design system across Defaqto.com, Unity and sub-brand sites
  • Ensure a seamless experience across marketing and product environments
  • Define what remains consistent (components, layout, interaction) and what flexes (tone, imagery, emphasis)
  • Create a system that works across multiple brands and audiences

This will include:

  • Design tokens (colour, typography, spacing, layout, iconography, interaction)
  • A comprehensive component library (navigation, forms, data display, CTAs, states)
  • Interaction patterns for key workflows and user states
  • Page templates and layout systems for both marketing and product use cases

Define components and patterns in a structured, explicit and unambiguous way. Document rules, constraints and usage clearly. Ensure outputs can be used by AI to generate and maintain pages without interpretation.

End-to-end journeys from marketing site through to logged-in product experience:

  • Adviser workflows (fact find > recommendation > submission > review)
  • Consumer journeys (discovery > understanding > action)

One consistent experience across marketing and product. Data-first interfaces with a single source of truth. Clarity and usability over visual decoration. Consistency at scale across all touchpoints. Modular, component-based design (Atomic Design approach preferred).

A system that scales across multiple brands without redesign. A seamless experience across web and product. Outputs that are structured enough for AI-driven assembly. Clear, intuitive design that can be understood quickly and applied consistently.

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Relevant qualification in UX, UI, Product Design or similar (or equivalent experience)
  • Strong understanding of design systems and scalable UI architecture
  • Experience designing across both marketing websites and software products
  • Familiarity with multi-brand environments and complex digital ecosystems
  • Awareness of emerging AI design considerations is advantageous
  • Expertise in UI design, interaction design and component-based thinking
  • Ability to translate complexity into clear, usable design patterns
  • Strong documentation skills — structured, precise and scalable outputs
  • Collaborative approach with the ability to work across product, marketing and tech
  • Proven experience designing and delivering design systems at scale
  • Experience working across complex, multi-product or post-acquisition environments
  • Background in B2B, SaaS or platform-based products is highly desirable
  • Experience contributing to or leading large-scale digital transformation projects
  • Comfortable working at pace in a short-term, impact-driven contract
  • Able to operate independently while aligning with a wider vision
  • Highly structured, detail-oriented and pragmatic
  • Focused on delivering solutions that scale, not one-off designs

Important to know:

Location: This role can be worked on a UK remote or hybrid basis. Ideally, we'd like you to be able to work onsite in our London office from time-to-time for collaboration purposes and to get to know key stakeholders face‑to‑face but this isn't essential.

Right to Work: Applicants must already hold a legal right to work in the UK without time restrictions and without the need for future sponsorship. We are unable to provide Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
